Chapter 3: Visiting the land of Frozen Concrete and Fitz's Rootbeer

Wow... what a great week. The Frozen Custard and Fitz's Rootbeer alone were worth the visit. That and seeing Sarah trying to track down everybody for their poker money like a loan shark... (I'm just kidding Sarah, you know I've got nothing but love for ya...)

While I'm sure everyone's already given mad props to Nichole for excellent time that was had (and to which I'd like to offer my gratitude as well), I'd like to recognize Nichole's husband who did his share of husbandly duty rounding up the frozen custard and rootbeer, not to mention holding down the fort at home while Nichole played hostess for the team for 4 days.

That said, here are some images from this past week...

Starting on Day 2, Tim's tour of The Learning Center was great, and I'm sure I was not the only one that is jealous of what Purina's doing to gain a better understanding of their consumers. It's funny how the division that is leading the charge in developing innovative ways to gain more relevant and in-depth consumer insights is our pet foods division.

Here're Victoria, Daniela and Sarah kicking off our meeting.

Hopefully, everyone has had a chance to say "hi" to Dora, here she is at the beginning of the meeting, ready to jump right in...

Here she is 10 minutes later... I think this is exactly when I started to offer my input.

Suffice to say we got through quite a bit of material that first day. With the meeting done, it was time to see the Arch. Although as we were waiting to head to the top of the arch, I had a flashback that we were in Disneyland waiting to step into Star Tours.

And could the elevators get any smaller? Talk about having some group bonding time, and Greg doing his thang (although I'm not exactly sure what his thang is) ...

The view was spectacular from the top of the Arch!

... and as Sabine aptly pointed out in the shadow, "the top of the Arch sure looks thin... it's a wonder that it's able to hold itself up." Yeah, thanks Sabine, that made me feel much better about being suspended 50 stories above the ground.

Now I may be a little biased, but we sure are a good-looking bunch.

Dinner at the Drunken Fish was awesome for the simple fact that we ordered just the right amount of sushi this time, and the saki shots weren't bad either.

And of course it wouldn't be a team meeting without some after hour activities... namely poker! Funny how all the "I've never played before" players ended up being in the money... A shout out to the big winners, Greg and Jessica; and to Daniela for letting us crash her room for the poker game. Cozy...

Day 3 was all business...

mixed in with the usual Crackberry breaks...

I think at this point Sarah was wondering, "oh why oh why did I answer David's call this morning?!?" Just looking out for you Sarah ;)

After long day of hard work, dinner at Zia's on the hill hit the spot... Dave's dinner order... breaded cod in an asparagus mushroom sauce, angel hair pasta and teramisu to top it all off. Yum! Suffice to say a good time was had by all.

And of course there had to be a Summit Poker Tourney... Round 2! Big Winner... Erin, who survived a couple of "Degree All-In" moments!

Day 4 was a little rainy, but we didn't let that distract us from the task at hand...

Not sure what Greg is doing here, but it looks like he's doing his version of "I'm bringing sexy back..."

The visit to the Fast Pack office was quite inspiring...

All the hard work paid off as the team received a vote of confidence from the Purina Senior Marketing Team (great job, Victoria and Nichole!) and it was time to head home.

The Summit Team Roadshow continues in 3 weeks... next stop... Solon, OH. -- home of the Tribe, the Cavs and NPPF.

Tribute to Gary...

It was sad see Gary leave our team. I knew I would like him when in HB he got up and said that one of the best innovations of all time was 'Glide' floss from Crest. Little did he know that I had just picked up a 4-pack of the stuff 2 weekends ago from Costco and actually carry Glide with me in my backpack.

Not to mention the fact that he actually tried Muay Thai, that's one bad ma'majama.

Gary, you'll be missed.
